I am going to Disney World in about a week and a half and my MagicBands just arrived for this trip. I did a quick little unpacking video of these MagicBands, for anyone who is unfamiliar with these bands; what they are for and what they do.
You can get a little more information about them from the Disney website. Basically, as I state in the video, these bands are your key to everything on Disney property. You open your resort room with them, you can use that at all the food vendors and shops, even at Downtown Disney (or Disney Springs, as it’s now been rebranded), they are your entrance to the water parks, your FastPasses, everything!
To personalize them, you log into your my Disney Experience site, and here you will see all your resort reservations, dining reservations FastPasses, etc. When you log in, you can click on the MyDisneyExperience header on the top right, and that gives you all your options.
Go on down to MagicBands and you will land on a screen that will show you all the MagicBands you have and what upcoming resort reservations you have, and the MagicBands you have to customize.
You select your resort reservation, and in the images below, I’ve chosen the MagcBands for a trip I have coming up in December, since there is still a chance to customize these. You will see everyone that is listed on your reservation and you can customize each one separately. Each person can choose their own color and the name they want on the inside of the band.
I realized just now that in the video I forgot to show you the green one I have for my son, and my stepson has the gray one. I think the green one is my favorite. That color is so bright and so pretty! And after Decembers trip, as you can see above, I will also have the red one, so our collection will be complete.
I also forgot to mention that for each time you stay at a Disney Resort, they will send you a new MagicBand. I think it’s a given from all the bands I showed, but I just wanted to specify this because the first time I stayed at a Disney Resort I thought that since the bands are linked to my account that I needed to guard the band with my life because I wouldn’t be receiving another unless I bought it, but that’s not the case.
As I stated in the video, you can purchase other ones either at the Disney Parks, the Disney Stores or the Disney store online. Below is just a little sample of what they look like.
At the Disney parks themselves, they have specialized ones as well. Like for Star Wars weekend, they had Star Wars themed MagicBands, beyond the little buttons I showed in the video. And then they also have sliders at the park themselves. The below image is one you can purchase at the DisneyStore.com website.
The only thing I didn’t see online was sleeves that you can place the MagicBands in, so I’m not sure if that is a park only item. You can check on Disney’s new Shop Disney Parks app (I didn’t see it there either) or in the parks themselves if you happen to be there. The best place I found that has the biggest selection of MagicBands and accessories on park property is at Epcot’s Mouse Gears shop right at the Innoventions plaza or at Magic Kingdom’s Big Top Souvenirs in Fantasyland but there are several shops on the property where you could find them.
